In our first week as Venture Builders with NTUitve, we were challenged to consider deeply about our purpose in life. There were many responses that alluded to what they wanted to do in life, and the change that they wanted to enact.
A response that ruffled some feathers was put forth by Dickson, who suggested that his purpose in life is to be happy, by achieving a sense of belonging, and to give and receive love.
Dr Alex put forth to us that having a purpose in life would mean having a clear and impactful goal. Perhaps he was trying to drive home the idea of the importance of having a purpose in mind, and its role in helping us shape actionable plans and impactful planning.
In a nutshell, the simple but understated question of “What gives my life meaning?” seems to elude us, as many even till old age, never figure out their purpose.
It definitely forced us to consider the intent behind our actions, and to live a purposeful life, on our own terms.
Through Dr Alex’s seminar of “Forming Effective Teams”, we were reminded of the tendency to misconstrue the intent of someone who thinks differently from us.
Being cognizant of the different tendencies and modes of thinking, will help to minimize miscommunication of intent when working with others, and even help play upon each other’s strengths.
“its all about understanding my own perspectives, and empathizing with others.’— Ryan Ching
Other than our seminars, what is most impressive are the resources that were afforded to us. Being in NTUitive, the innovation and enterprise company of NTU, meant that we would have access to the technology and bright minds of NTUitive.
NTU is strong in her technical know-hows and boasts some of the state-of-the-art technologies that are promising for a vibrant startup ecosystem to be built in Singapore... -Dawn Ng
…we were introduced to the team at NTUitive, fellow peers, the bright minds behind our projects also known as Entrepreneur-In-Residence (EIR) and industry experts that include serial entrepreneurs, professors, engineers, PhD students, growth hacker, accountant, an angel investor, venture capitalists, bank managing director. In the coming weeks ahead, we are prepared to be met with challenges and overcome them. We have all the resources we need. What’s left for us to do is to succeed.
